Songkran Yoga Retreat

13 – 16 April 2020

The Warriors House is delighted to welcome you in this short yoga break. Four days and three nights away for an intensive time to spend with yourself deepening your Yoga practice, on and off the mat.

Songkran is one of the most propitious moments to practice Yoga and purify oneself.

You will spend time practicing Yoga Asana and Meditation. Two workshops are included in the program (Yoga Nidra & The Sound of Chakras). During the free time it is possible to use the common spaces to relax and rest or a private session can be booked.

One of the most important holidays in Thailand is the Songkran, or New Year celebrated according to the Buddhist calendar. The term Songkran literally means “astrological passage” because it coincides with the entry of the sun in the sign of Aries.

During this holiday the Thai go in procession to the temples, make offerings and perform some rituals, such as pouring water on sacred statues. Water is in fact given a meaning of purification and it is believed that through water you can wash away sins and bad luck. But the flow of water is also the prelude to the upcoming rainy season: the festivity marks the end of the dry season and the beginning of the monsoon rains, very important for agriculture and in particular for the cultivation of rice.

On the third day, from 8.30 am to 9.30 am, we will go to the temple in the village to purify ourselves.

Our Shala is located twenty minutes from the center of Chiang Mai, in northern Thailand, with a large quiet garden surrounded by coconut and banana trees, exotic plants and flowers. A private lake and common areas, both indoor and outdoor, where you can practice, study and meditate. A small library is available for guests to relax and concentrate. Our Shala is a traditional Lanna style house, cozy and at the same time simple, ideal to find oneself.

Five minutes walk from the Shala, our resort consists of three private family bungalows and four double rooms, all with air conditioning and wi-fi. During the free time, between Yoga practices, our guests can relax and refresh themselves in the pool.

The food will be freshly cooked, fruits are local or picked directly from the garden with a never ending coconut supply. For the last dinner together we will settle a bonfire where we will also cook, grill and chill.
