From myths and legends about warriors to yoga mats. From the battles on the field, to the inner battle. The ancient Hindu and Buddhist texts tell of valiant gestures and give great teachings to bring into everyday life.

There are so many characteristics of the warrior that, to learn them, a life would not be enough. A continuous search and a continuous spiritual battle, with the aim of changing ourselves to change the reality of the world.

Every day the warrior faces hard trials, fears, judgments and the ego. He does not follow the standards recognized by the society, but lives with humility, determination, dignity and gratitude. Many other aspects will be discovered by experience during the journey and will then be brought to a state of balance with all the others.

The first step is the awareness of being alive and present. The warrior of the spirit is aware of his strength, but remains humble before every battle won, knowing that the way of knowledge will soon present more. His determination silently leads him to his goal. Silent because he observes, but that does not mean that there is no action.

To be a warrior you must have perseverance, without discussion and with dignity, because a spiritual fighter knows well what his goal is, near or far, with sacrifice, every day and non-stop. To be adapted, to be accommodated and to be satisfied, are not part of his lifestyle.

On a human level it is possible to make mistakes and fall, but you must always know how to get up and continue your inner research. The warrior faces the changes with energy, flows with life, so as not to fear death, which is also nothing more than a transition.

As he walks he defeats other enemies called anger, envy, greed and ignorance. Enlightened from the inside, he has courage, strength and discipline. The spiritual warrior fights his inner battles with the knowledge of his own limits and possibilities.

In Buddhism, the term spiritual warrior is given to those who fight the universal enemy, or “avidya”, a word that in Sanskrit means ignorance. A heroic being with a brave mind and an ethical impulse.

Through Yoga it is possible to take this path, strengthen it and see its progress. In the Yivamukti sequence of the spiritual warrior, a series of Asanas leads to concentration, with the aim of improving oneself and seeing one’s authenticity.

A Yoga practice that, if performed with constancy, allows to flow with changes, to express oneself from the deepest and to grow both physically and spiritually.
